Headline act - Will Joseph Cook + Band Soundcloud live videos
Paul says “I met Will a few years ago and invited him to perform at The Grey Lady aged just 14. His performance was captivating, the quality of the vocal and musicianship was excellent, but the songwriting craft was truly mind blowing! 2 years on, now 16 and managed by Emma B, Will is seriously going places. 2013 has seen him perform at Hyde Park (at the same event The Rolling Stones headlined!), he has also performed at a number of kitsch festivals and venues including ‘Bestival’ and would have headlined the Local &Live Music Festival had it not been postponed. Will now generally performs as a 4 piece band and I can see 2014 being a massive year for him. Will has been a regular feature on the local scene in Kent for a while, and there are big hopes for him from grass roots supporters. He is lyrically beyond his years with a voice full of soul and infectious, thought provoking melodies. After he supported Tom Odell in Manchester earlier this year, Tom subsequently tweeted about how impressed with Will he was following his performance. I implore all reading this paragraph to come along to the Local &Live Sessions on Nov 23rd and see one of the South East’s most talented young singer-songwriters in action….you won’t regret it!”
“Will has some big talent” – Dave Rowett, London’s Barfly
9pm – The Ackerleys Soundcloud
It is now two and a half years since Cyrano’s Joe Ackerley teamed up with his sister Alice to form ‘The Ackerleys’ as a side line - turned major project! Already they have a fast-growing repertoire of folk/pop tunes, some light and uplifting, some moody and soulful, but all featuring close harmony, strong chord structure and catchy melody. Joe employs his prodigious song writing skills and his own rich baritone to complement and showcase Alice‘s striking voice. Joe’s roots are in rock music as is well known to many of on the TW music scene, his deep seated influences an unusual mix of Pearl Jam/ Radiohead/ Elbow/Crowded House/Jeff Buckley. His sister Alice provides a more contemporary vibe – Laura Marling, The Staves, Florence and the Machine, Emmy the Great, Marina &the Diamonds. The result is delightfully different - but judge for yourself. The dynamic duo has now added lead guitar, bass guitar and drums in the form of Steve McCormack, Mike Wilton and Matt Wilson to embellish and expand The Ackerleys trademark sound.
