Paul says “This is going to be a fantastic Local & Live Sessions. To have The Breretons and The Standard Lamps on the same bill is simply wonderful. They are regarded as 2 of the best bands to ever come out of Tunbridge Wells. The Breretons are superb live and renowned for their beautifully crafted songs that carry their unique bluesy/country style. The songwriting chemistry of siblings Marc and Charlotte Brereton is truly breathtaking, the way they perform together is absolutely captivating. They will be backed on the night by their brilliant 6 piece band. Their collective influences include Joni Mitchell Ray La Montagne, Bon Iver, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Carol King and Angus & Julia Stone. The Standard Lamps will raise the roof with their dynamic fusion of retro blues edged rock. Front man and lead guitarist Mike Wilton is considered by many to be one of the most talented musicians in the area. His guitar playing is reminiscent of the style of Beck and Clapton but at times there are shades of Hendrix too. In fact the whole band have earned a steadfast reputation for their spectacular live shows with mesmerising musicianship and vocal/harmonica interplay drive a pulsating live sound. One of the best bands to hail from The Tunbridge Wells area!”

Marc and Charlotte Brereton were born and raised in the Kent countryside, where they wrote and played from the ripe old age of 14 and 12, until their paths split. Charlotte left for Ireland, leaving Marc on stage by his lonesome. On Charlotte's return, Marc had long relocated to London to pursue music and was sessioning and writing music with one Pedro Domentez. After a lot of arguing and fighting, Charlotte was back in the band and The Original Sinners was born. Five years later with an American and European tour under their belts, the Sinners folded and once again brother and sister were on their own again. Returning to their folk roots they started to carve a sound more honest and profound than either of them could have ever predicted; a total departure from the party rock strutting of the Sinners. The Breretons were born, with influences spanning Joni Mitchell, Richard Thompson, Johnny Cash, Joy Division and Led Zeppelin. Folk to "folk you up" is the motto, songs drawn from their experiences as a diary etched in sound. The regular band line-up is comprised of Robin O’Keefe(drums), Henrik, Andy Vickery (electric guitar) Kirsty Mangan (Violin) with Marc on acoustic guitar/vox harmonies alongside Charlotte’s lead vocal. Their debut full length album is due to be available for purchase at this L & L sessions.

Formed in late 2009 by Mike Wilton, The Standard Lamps believe that it's about time that we took things back to basics. During the last two years, Mike has been experimenting with various musicians to produce ‘The Standard Lamps’ which consists of James Livett on bass and Matt Bennie (Goldie Reed, Billy Jupp) on drums. Playing countless gigs in the South East, The Standard Lamps have been pleasing audiences since Early 2010. Their music can be described as a mixture of melodic tunes with a raw blues edge. With their first EP ‘Portland’ (2010) and debut album ‘Sell Everything You Own’ (2012) already under their belts, they are now planning the second album with a trilogy of singles to be released throughout Summer 2013. The Standard Lamps believe in sounding where you come from. The Standard Lamps believe in variety. The Standard Lamps believe having fun with what you're doing. The Standard Lamps believe in giving you a good time.
