Paul says “After an opening set from the Paul Dunton Orchestra, I am proud to present two of the local area’s finest bands. Billy Jupp & The Black Market are a fresh and edgy four-piece who are led by a huge songwriting and singing talent in Bill Jupp. Dark and atmospheric yet incredibly infectious, this is a band who I would describe as Pink FLoyd meets Tom Waits. Bill’s rich and deep vocal is a rare thing of beauty. Searching For Pie will brings to a climatic close with their uplifting and catch pop/rock. They are like Crowded House on Steroids….they have the melodic pop sensibilities as found in Neil Finn’s songwriting but they also have a real rocking edge that the likes of The Who or Eric Clapton, or even a touch of Feeder or Supergrass. Oodles and noodles of electric guitar riffs that’ll have you dreaming of stadium rock all night long!”
Billy Jupp & the Black Market (main support) website video
Billy Jupp is a songwriter from Kent. His music is heavily influenced by the likes of Tom Waits, Kurt Elling, Dr John, Bill Withers and many others. He and his band of inspiring musicians (The Black Market) are currently working toward the release of their Debut Album, recorded in a wooden shack full of a whole bunch of weird and wonderful instruments. This album seeks to explore the underbelly of human society, concentrating on the dark and extensively bad side of our nature. Keep your ears to the ground! Searching For Pie (headline) website video
Searching For Pie are a 5 piece band on a journey into the world of rock music. We're into strong melodies and rhythms that rock and our recent tracks 'Sleepyhead' and 'Scars' have attracted large audiences to our live gigs. Songwriters and brothers, Neil and Gary Frost teamed up in 2011 to write and produce their debut album 'Into the World'. The finished version is a gusty memorable rock album that is diverse, lyrically pleasing and melodic. Teaming up with Carl, Steve, Ed, Jez and Tom early in 2012 they have begun on their journey of live performances as Searching for Pie. They are taking their music into the world in the coming year at their live gigs and are already working on material for their next album.
8pm – The Paul Dunton Orchestra website video
The Paul Dunton Orchestra are a 20 piece ensemble who offer a powerful and atmospheric fusion of alternative & pop with a unique classical twist! Paul composes and performs both instrumental pieces and songs. With influences such as modern day artists; Elbow, Rufus Wainwright, Zero 7, Pink Floyd, Turin Brakes and drawing inspiration from composers such as Einaudi, John Barry and Samuel Barber; singer-songwriter Paul Dunton offers something different. Paul cites his fellow band members as a key reason for his growing success. "Technically, I am a songwriter with a band, however it's really not like that, we are a very close, united team. I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded a group of incredible musicians, who are also great friends of mine. I owe so much to them". Paul's Orchestra are regularly performing both nationally and internationally with encouraging success and were recently featured on BBC Radio 2 by Joan Armatrading with a selection of interviews and airplay of Paul's song 'Don't Forget'.
