Goldie Reed has been performing with her 4-piece band since late 2010, regularly appearing around London and the South East. Influenced by musicians such as Alison Krauss, Robert Plant, T-Bone Burnett, Eva Cassidy and Tom Waits, Goldie’s rootsy music has gained a wonderful response from satisfied audiences- “People keep asking when we will have something to release which is so lovely to hear, and we are grateful that everyone has been patient while we make something we are proud of. We are releasing our debut single ‘Bittersweet’ on March 25th at the Grey Lady, Tunbridge Wells, and hope everyone loves it as much as us!” says Goldie. Support comes from the Ty Watling Band, and David Migden & the Dirty Words- two brilliant bands that make the perfect addition to Goldie’s performance. Physical copies are available tonight and hold the added bonus of Goldie’s acoustic track ‘Butterflies’. With the first 25 physical singles purchased, you will receive a complimentary cupcake. Goldie and the boys are currently working hard on their debut album that is due for release this summer. “The album is sounding great, but it has meant that we are taking a break from performing- and we love performing so we have been looking forward to tonight for a long time now!” ‘Bittersweet’ will also be available to download from iTunes, and other online retailers on the same day.
I am a unique, acoustic singer/songwriter and all round musician based in Hastings, currently in the process of releasing my original music to the general public. At 17, i have performed at various events, parties, and weddings, regularly go busking, and have taken part in open mic nights in the local area, but am now looking to play to a larger audience and gain experience in the music industry. My interest in music began from an early age as i was always surrounded by my dad playing guitar, but i purchased my first drum kit at the age of 11, and taught myself the guitar and piano shortly after, which set me up for gigs at small venues. Despite aiming to make a living out of music in the future, for the time being i am just enjoying sharing my music with people, and hope to continue doing so for a very long time.
It is a year now since Cyrano’s Joe Ackerley teamed up with his sister Alice to form ‘The Ackerleys’ as a side line - turned major project! Already they have a fast-growing repertoire of folk/pop tunes, some light and uplifting, some moody and soulful, but all featuring close harmony, strong chord structure and catchy melody. Joe employs his prodigious song writing skills and his own rich baritone to complement and showcase Alice‘s striking voice. Joe’s roots are in rock music as is well known to many of on the TW music scene, his deep seated influences an unusual mix of Pearl Jam/ Radiohead/ Elbow/Crowded House/Jeff Buckley. His sister Alice, just turned 17, provides a more contemporary vibe – Laura Marling, The Staves, Florence and the Machine, Emmy the Great, Marina & the Diamonds. The result is delightfully different - but judge for yourself. The dynamic duo has now added lead guitar and drums in the form of Steve McCormack, and Matt Wilson.
Raising Cain are an acoustic duo based near Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Forged from a shared passion in Americana, Roots and Blues music, James Cundle and Bill Burke began interpreting contemporary and traditional songs in 2014 and performing them stripped down and live at local open mic. events. As the positive response grew, so did their confidence in their distinctive approach to performing and the pair began writing original material in early 2015.
Inspired by artists from the early 1900’s right through to the current day, the sound of old time strings bands, the grungy resonance of the delta blues along with the contemporary sounds of Dylan and Cash can all be heard influencing their writing. Mixing rhythm, finger style and slide guitars with natural vocal harmonies provide an extraordinary depth and honesty that engages and envelopes the venues they play.
The pair are actively writing and continue to draw influences from all around them. A new album of original material is currently in the planning as they hope to head towards the studio later this year.
