Iain Spink (guitar/vocals) and Heather Grabham (vocals/penny whistle/flute/harmonica) are established performers on the Kent music scene and have been playing together since 2002. Iain’s song writing reflects a passion for wordsmiths of all genres, particularly American roots music and has previously released two solo albums. Heather is a virtuoso penny whistle player and a singer of rare character; her talents have been in demand at celidhs, festivals and concert halls across SouthEast England, Belgium and France. Heather also performs with Celtic Roots trio Tan Tethra, and Belgian folk heavyweights Kadril for whom she was a featured vocalist on their acclaimed album De Andre Kust (2005). Iain and Heather will be performing songs from their debut album, Fables & Labels, released in 2006: “a unique blend of Americana roots and English folk, infused with a pop sensibility.”
Mike is replacing The Matt Rivers Band.
Mike says: My intention with life is to write and perform music, the sort of music that I feel passionately about. Music that really means something, the lyrics are about how I feel and the music is the sound of my life. I will die trying because it's the only thing that really means something to me and I've always known that it's what I'm meant to do.
I hope you enjoy my songs, there's a small selection on this site from my most recent recording and one (Steph's Song) that won the Make It Break It 2005 competition.
Rebecca is a 23-year-old singer-songwriter and composer from Tunbridge Wells. She started performing at The Grey Lady in 2008 having won a competition at her school, and continued to perform there in a regular slot for two years, whilst enjoying a high level of involvement in the general local music scene.
For the past four years Rebecca has lived in Oxford, studying her undergraduate degree in Music at Oxford Brookes University and is now completing her masters in Composition and Musicology. During this time, she has been in a band, ‘The Lanterns’, performed in several musicals, an opera, and in numerous choirs. This year, she ran a show choir called The Fortune Cookies and was Assistant MD for the Brookes production of Spring Awakening.
As a singer-songwriter, Rebecca is currently working on her debut EP ‘Wolves’ and is enjoying experimenting with new styles and sounds, drawing inspiration from her very eclectic taste in music and artists such as Brandi Carlile and Emma Stevens.
Emotive songstress, Jennifer Lee Ridley passionately uses influences of a Romantic folk nature to create poignant and touching music. She has studied in depth the poetic nature of song and has a strong affinity with writers such as William Shakespeare, John Keats and William Blake. More recently she has combined these influences with her own song-writing to create more modern fusions whilst carefully retaining the purity of the lyrical content. Her dark warm vocals combined with her individual folk sound mirrors the poetic lyrics which explore the many facets of emotions.
This has had a profound effect on her own songs which she continues to develop and enhance through working with other composers, musicians and writers locally and in London. She feels strongly that collaborating is an important part of growing and building an understanding of the nature and the impact of poetry and prose on music.
She is currently working on and arranging an album which she is hopes to bring out in 2014.
