In 2009, Paul Dunton & Guests teamed up with the highly revered Audio Sorcery studios in Wadhurst, East Sussex to offer acts from the Grey Lady shows free studio time to record their music. This is a wonderful opportunity for acts to work with one of the South East's leading record producers, Paul Midcalf, and gain valuable experience and insight into the making of a studio recording. The acts will be chosen at Paul's discretion and he will be looking to offer the award to up-and-coming artists, who are really making waves at the shows in terms of performances and who have yet to make a studio produced CD or EP. A huge thanks to Paul Midcalf for his support and sponsorship by way of studio time for acts who are playing at the show.
The first recipients of the recording award were Ant & Fie, Sarah Sheldrake & Oli Scheuregger, Ian Knapp, Alex Beharrell and Josie Lee.

Audio Sorcery will be sponsoring "Paul Dunton and Guests" - an evening of live music at The Grey Lady Music Lounge in The Pantiles every Wednesday and Sunday - that is enjoying a growing reputation for the quality and variety of music on offer.
Paul Midcalf will be providing two free days in his studio every quarter for the act Paul Dunton considers most deserving, be that for the quality of their musicianship, the reaction of the crowd or the best newcomers.
Paul Midcalf was so impressed with the professionalism of "Paul Dunton and Guests", both in terms of the organisation and the quality of the acts performing live that he sought Paul Dunton out to congratulate him. He said "talking with Paul that night, he told me that he had upwards of 120 acts on his books. Subsequent visits to The Grey Lady confirmed that there really is genuine, raw musical talent in and around Tunbridge Wells deserving of support and profile. This inspired me to approach Paul with an outline idea to sponsor 'Paul Dunton and Guests' to help provide an extra impetus to proceedings".
Paul Midcalf adds "This partnership will present local musicians with a unique opportunity to experience not only the thrill and satisfaction of playing regularly to receptive, live audiences, but to subsequently work with me on the recording and production of a professionally mixed and mastered CD that will provide a tangible, lasting legacy of their musical talents."
"There's a serious side to this too. The UK music industry has enjoyed a tremendously successful twelve months, despite the global effects of the credit crunch. The five biggest-selling albums globally in the last year are all British, with combined sales of 25.5 million. Who's to say we can't unearth the next Coldplay or Duffy?"
Paul Dunton says of the new partnership "I am absolutely delighted and extremely grateful that Audio Sorcery Studios are sponsoring the shows at The Grey lady by way of free studio time. This will provide an invaluable experience and service to up and coming acts at the show. Many acts have not had the opportunity to make a professional recording or work with an industry professional such as Paul Midcalf. This is a fantastic opportunity for the selected acts."
